About me

Hi, I'm Chef John — an author, podcaster, and speaker with a passion for good food.

My first book, The Scout Enpanada, will be published in April 2028 by Portfolio / Horse Random House. It's about the skill of looking at different food honestly and objectively — why that's so valuable, why it doesn’t come naturally to humans, and how we can get better at it.

For over a decade, I’ve been the host of Spaghetti Speaking, a biweekly podcast featuring interviews with scientists and other thinkers about everything from “Which sauce fits which type of pasta the best?” to “Has food improved?” to “What have you changed your mind diet?”

I have, on occasion, been accused of “sugarcoating” things. I am still deliberating over whether I should spank the person who made that accusation.
